Frequently asked questions

Short answers, with the official source.

When is my LLC’s annual report due?

It depends on your state. Some states use a fixed date for every LLC (Florida: between January 1 and May 1), others use the anniversary month of your formation. Pick your state above to see the exact rule and the official source.

Do I need a registered agent?

Yes. Every state requires an LLC to name a registered agent with a physical address in that state, available during business hours to receive legal and state mail. You can act as your own agent if you meet the state’s requirements.

What happens if I file late?

Most states charge a late fee and can administratively dissolve an LLC that keeps missing filings. In Florida, a $400 late fee is added after May 1 and it cannot be waived.

Is LLC Standing a law firm?

No. We publish general information compiled from official state sources and link to every source. It is not legal or tax advice.
