Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest registered agent service?

Among the providers we compared, Zenind lists the lowest ongoing price at $99 per year. Harbor Compliance and ZenBusiness offer $99 first-year prices that renew at $159 and $199. Bizee includes the first year free when you form your LLC with them. Prices verified October 18, 2026.

Is a registered agent worth paying for?

It is worth it if you live outside the state where your LLC is registered, want to keep your home address off public records, or can’t be at a fixed address during business hours. Otherwise you can usually serve as your own agent for free.

Can I switch registered agents later?

Yes. You file a change with the state. In the states we cover, the state fee runs from $5 (Wyoming, North Carolina) to $50 (Delaware), and Georgia lets you change it on your annual registration. See your state’s guide for the exact form and fee.
