Welcome to the first issue of LLC Standing Weekly. Every week: what changed for LLC owners, what’s due in the next 30 days and one practical guide — with a link to the official source behind every fact.
This week in brief
- Social Security wage base rises to $192,300 for 2027 (from $184,500 in 2026). Self-employment tax and S corp payroll tax apply the 12.4% Social Security portion only up to this amount. Source: Social Security Administration. Run your numbers in our S corp tax calculator.
- The 1099-NEC threshold is now $2,000 for payments made in tax years after 2025 (it was $600). Forms for 2026 payments are due February 1, 2027, because January 31 falls on a Sunday. Source: IRS instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.
- US-formed LLCs still don’t file BOI reports. FinCEN’s current rules exempt companies created in the United States; the requirement applies to entities formed abroad and registered to do business in a state. Source: FinCEN — Beneficial ownership information.
Due in the next 30 days
- Wyoming LLCs formed in November: annual report due November 1 ($60 minimum license tax). The LLC is administratively dissolved if the report is more than 60 days late. Wyoming guide
- California LLCs formed in October of an even year: Statement of Information (Form LLC-12, $20) due by October 31. California guide
- New York LLCs whose articles were filed in November: if your biennial statement is due this year, file it during November ($9) — not earlier. New York guide

Guide of the week: what an LLC really costs to keep
We added up each state’s formation fee and five years of recurring state fees. Michigan comes out lowest at $175; California highest at $4,120, because of its $800 yearly LLC tax. Texas has the highest filing fee we track ($300) but no yearly state fee for most small LLCs. See the State LLC Cost Index.
